Rally of the Moghul Road, India

It seems that nobody in our Club has done anything of note since the Red Kite Stages - no reports have been received - so here is something to refresh the front page. The Rally of the Moghul Road is a new event in Kashmir, high up in the Himalayan foothills, and several short video clips are available. Please click on -

2010 Red Kite Stages

The 2010 Red Kite and Red Kite Historic Stages took place on Sunday 18th April. The warm sunshine was a welcome break from the 'big freeze' conditions which caused the event's postponement in January. Jason Pritchard and Robbie Durant won the rally in their Subaru Impreza, beating No 1 seeding Melvyn Evans and Aled Davies by 6 seconds. The Historic Stages were won by Terry Brown (for the 3rd time) and Martin Jones in their Escort RS1800. They finished 26 seconds ahead of David Stokes and Guy Weaver. Congratulations to all our victors and all award winners.

Since the rally was postponed in January, our rally organisers have had to re-schedule and re-survey the whole rally using stages not used for some years. They have put in an immense amount of work to achieve this. Congratulations to them.

Barry & Seyyan 6th OVERALL on the Rali Elli  (for a while anyway ...)

Barry & Seyyan John in their trusty Toyota Celica held a steady 6th Overall during the early sections of the Rali Elli on Pembrey. Unfortunately heavy tyre wear, a spin and other problems dropped them down the field and after the Night Leg they finished 20th Overall. Thanks to Brian Gilbert for the photo.

Llandovery RFC Match Ball Sponsorship   -   a report by Terry Frayne

Despite its postponement, The Red Kite Stages continued its annual commitment to Llandovery Rugby Club by sponsoring the Match Ball for their game against Cardiff on January 23rd. The Drovers fought bravely against a Cardiff side that put out their strongest team this season including three International Class players. Cardiff capitalised on every error made yet the final score of 45-5 to the visitors did not do justice to the effort put in by the home side.

I had a warm welcome from ex-Mayor Gina Jones who flagged away every car from the rally start last year. I was also privileged to be asked to speak on behalf of our Club after the match, explaining the rally postponement, taking the opportunity to thank the town for its ongoing hospitality and to mention how we intend to plough all car park takings back into local community charities and initiatives.

Thanks also to John Kendrick and Gina Deering.
