We had no less than 23 club members and associates travel west to spectate on the west cork rally in Clonakilty. The weather was quite windy with some heavy showers of rain but a good time was had by all (except "Smiley" who was ignored by the bar staff at De Barra’s pub!). We were lucky to get a sailing home on Monday night as the earlier morning sailing had been cancelled due to bad weather. Some crews were stranded in the ferry port all day! Our casualty of the weekend was Brian Thomas’ windscreen, which was cracked by a wayward mobile phone! (No oil was spilt this year!) Committee member Matthew Wood-Griffiths found that his mobile phone would not work in Ireland so he bought an Irish pay-as-you-go phone so that he could keep in touch with his girlfriend. He told us on the way home that he will bring his girlfriend with him next year as it would be cheaper than phoning her! He spent 120 euros on calls!

Noreen and Miriam provided excellent hospitality at the Bay View. Our thanks to them both. Also thanks to Terry for sorting the accommodation and John Oliver for organising the saving fund for the trip. Both Terry and John were not able to attend the trip due to work and family commitments. We hope they have better luck next year.
