Sorry there was no update last month as was I away most of the month. Most of you are aware that we do “News at 10” on a club night were we inform you about whats going on in the club regarding competitors, marshals and other things of interest. It was decicded at tonights committee meeting to bring this forward due to some members leaving around 9 to 9.30. It will now be known as “the 9 o’clock News” so those members dont miss out on what is going on in the club.

There will be a quiz this Weds at the club, everyone is welcome. we will be having a quiz on the 3rd Weds of every month after this one, come and try out your knowledge of motorsport and every thing general.

Welcome to the first update of 2023. I hope you all had a good Xmas and New Year and are looking forward to the coming year of motorsport, in whatever form of motorsport you take part in. The club marshaling team ended the year at a very wet Pembrey for the Jaffa Xmas Stages between Xmas and New Year. (see report in Marshals News) The club had a few members competing, all in the same class, in what was to be a very challenging day due to heavy rain and LOTS of standing water creating problems for the competitors.

Simon Anthony co-driving for Phil Turner in Skoda Fabia R5 finished a creditable 11th o/all 4th in class after having no wipers for the first 2 stages, costing them dearly. Darren James managed to finish in 22nd o/all, 7th in class in his Evo6. Barry and Seyyan John finished 41st o/all, 12th in class after a troublesum day in there Subaru Impreza. Which Barry had sold prior to the event and tried not to break it before handing it over to the new owner, which for Barry is a hard thing to do. All in all a good days motorsport in challenging conditions and well done to everyone that finished.

This years club championship presentation and Xmas Quiz will be held on Weds 21st December at Pontardawe Rugby Club. Arriving at 7:30pm for an 8pm start. There will be a raffle and buffet so why not come along and a have a laugh and a good time. Everyone is welcome. Xmas jumper and fancy dress optional.

Sorry for the delay in updating the web site but there was a gliche on the site which prevented this, which has now been rectified by the page host.

At the last club committee meeting the Red Kite 2023 was discussed at length and after the budget plan was presented it was decided that it would not be financially viable to run the event. It was agreed to “Moth Ball” the event, and, if and when things become more viable, we would look at running it once more. We appreciate this is not good news and the decision was not made easily.

On a brighter not, the club has submitted a route for the Mynydd Du Road Rally to the RLO and await his views on it with a provisional date for the end of 2023. Talks are also in place with a landowner in Hirwaun with the intention of organising a Targa Road Rally in late summer next year. More info can be obtained from club nights and on here.

The date for the AGM has been sent out to all members from the club Secretary, it will be held on Wed 16th November at 20:30, at Pontardawe Rugby Club. Please arrive at 20:00 to enable yourselves to get a drink so we can start on time. Only fully paid-up members will be allowed to attend the AGM.

Tonight 13-04-22 will be the last time the club will meet at Potardawe Golf Club, from next Wednesday 20-04-22 we will be meeting back at Pontardawe Rugby Football Club, Ynysderw Road, Swansea. SA8 4EG. Everyone is welcome to join us from 20:15 every Wednesday from this date forward. We look forward to welcoming members old and new.

Unfortunately there will NOT be a club night next Weds 30th March, this is due to the Golf Club holding there AGM on the night and all rooms are being used. The next club night will be Weds 6th March.

Timing Training  Night

The club has arranged a Timing Training Night for Weds 9th March at Pontardawe Golf Club starting at 8:30pm. Rob Mitchell and Mike Griffiths will be giving a demonstration on how the systems that we use on rallies work. It is a good opportunity to get up close in a relaxed atmosphere to see how it is done and a chance to brush up on your skills. Everyone is welcome so please come along and make Rob and Mikes efforts worth while.

Red Kite 2022 Cancelled

It is with deep regret that Amman and district motor club have to inform you that the Red kite stages that was due to run on June 12th 2022 has had to be cancelled. This is  due to the sudden loss of our service/start venue  and much to the disappointment of the organisers, who have worked tirelessly to find a new venue which would tie up our stages  but unfortunately we were not able too. We hope as a club to see you all in 2023.

Yours in motorsport

Neil Amber

Secretary Amman and district Motor club.

Amman and District Motor Club Ltd would like to announce that due to the Covid Pandemic and the current Welsh Government restrictions plus reasons beyond their control, the committee have made the difficult decision to cancel this years Red Kite Stages that was due to take place on Sunday 13th June 2021, in the South Wales Valleys. The decision was not an easy one to make but feel that it is the right one in these uncertain times. The committee would like to express their gratitude to all the organising team who have worked tirelessly over the past years to keep the event on track as well as running what has become a first class event for many years in the past. We would also like to thank  all the Championship organisers, Officials, Rescue and Recovery, and the many volunteers who stayed loyal in these uncertain times.

Welcome to the first update of 2021, we hope you all had as good a Christmas and New Year as was allowed. As there has been virtually no motorsport in 2020 and no club activities, the committee have decided that all membership from 2020 will be rolled over to 2021. There will be no charge for club membership for 2021. Membership cards will be issued once  club nights are able to resume, whenever that might be, but if anyone needs one before then please get in touch with the Membership Secretary Neil Amber or any committee member and we will arrange this for you.  Up to now we have not had any information for rallies that we have been asked to marshal on but will inform you as soon the organising clubs release the information. We will be holding another Red Kite Meeting on 12-01-21 and will keep you informed of any news.

We intend to hold a members zoom meeting on Wednesday the 27th January at 8pm to answer any questions you might have. Joining details will be emailed to members the week before the meeting. We hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you.

As we come to the end of what has been a very strange year and we enter our third lockdown, this will be the last update of 2020. We held our virtual AGM  via zoom last month and we had a reasonable turn out. As there hasn’t been any club activity it was quite a short meeting with all the committee being re-elected on-bloc. We also held a Red Kite Meeting to discuss the on-going situation with the Covid restrictions, it was agreed by all that we carry on with the planning of event and review the restrictions again  in January. Rob Mitchell has agreed to be the Covid 19 Officer for the event. The Chief Marshal, Stacey Thomas, will be posting marshalling details on the club Facebook page and I will post them on the web site as soon as i receive them.

On behalf of the Committee I would like to wish all members a Merry Christmas and a safe and Prosperous New Year.

We hope you are all keeping well in this the second lockdown, we held a second members Zoom meeting on the 28-10-20 for all paid up members which was a bit better supported this time and we intend to do more in the near future.

At our Zoom committee meeting tonight the committee was informed that an article appeared in Motorsport News on the 15-10-20, on page 10 Rally News in the In Brief column stating that the Red Kite 2021 would not be running, this is in fact not true, the event is still going ahead on the 13th June 2021. We are not aware where Motorsport News got this information from and our club Secretary will be contacting them to inform them that the information is incorrect.

A reminder that the AGM of Amman and District Motor Club Ltd will be held next Wednesday 11th November 2020 at 8 pm. This will be held via Zoom, the Agenda and joining instructions have been emailed to all paid up members. If you have not received yours yet please contact the Club Secretary.

The AGM of Amman and District Motor Club Ltd will be held on Wednesday 11th November 2020 at 8pm. Due to the current situation in the UK with Covid 19, the committee have decided to hold it via ZOOM.

The Club Secretary will contact all paid up members with the agenda and joining instructions via email.

As announced last week, we held a virtual members meeting last night on Zoom, unfortunately the invitation was not taken up by the membership for whatever reason. The committee have decided to hold another one in two weeks time on the 28-10-20, at the slightly later time of 20:30 and hopefully we will see a some of you on there. The Secretary will email joining details to all paid up members who have given an email address when joining the club. As this is a new thing for the club we feel it is the best way of keeping members up to date with things and with the AGM being held on Zoom next month we thought it would be a good idea to get you used to how Zoom works. Hope to see some of  you in two weeks.

Hi everyone, we hope you are all staying safe and well in these uncertain times. With motorsport being almost non existent at the moment and more so in Wales, and with our club nights on hold, the committee has decided to hold a virtual members meeting on “zoom” next Weds, 14th October starting at 20:00, to let you know what is going on and give you the chance to ask the committee any questions you might have. Our club Secretary will notify all paid up members by email with the joining details this week. If you don’t receive your invite by the end of this week please contact me via the “contact us” link on this page.

After a committee meeting tonight,08-09-20, the committee have made the unfortunate decision to suspend our weekly club nights at the Golf club due to the fact that we feel we are not in a position to safeguard all our members well being due to restrictions in place at the Golf club. We held a club night there last week and we did not feel we could safeguard you all at this present time. We intend to have a “zoom” club night in the near future and all members will notified with joining instructions by the Secretary shortly.

We are sorry that we have to take these measures, but the health and wellbeing of  our members is paramount, and we hope you will join us on our “zoom” club night.
